When I started reading this book I did not know what to think. I had a hard time finishing this story and for its length it should have been a quick and easy read. I did not know if this story was meant to be taken tongue-in-cheek like a spoof or as a realistic contemporary erotic fiction tale
The story begins in Ashaki’s salon where she is trying not to finish a book by her favorite author, Crystal Ordonez, she started that morning. Deciding that she needs to finish the book in the privacy of her home she closes up shop early, makes sure her chickens has enough feed for the weekend and leaves. Before she gets home she stops at a bar owned by a friend where she learns that Ms Ordonez is in Miami for a writer’s conference. She leaves the bar and is harassed by a Latino gang when she gets to her apartment complex. But Ashaki easily handles them with a few kicks and karate chops. The next day she goes and meets Ms Ordonez and also encounters Angela Pearson. After a nice lunch together, after Ashaki faints upon meeting her favorite author, she gets an invitation to Ms Ordonez’s hotel room to talk more. At the hotel an erotic encounter between the three women ensues.
For me this story was flat, lacking and left me cold. I could have overlooked my other reservations about this story had it not been for the convenience of the ending.
