Seated at their kitchen table, Rachel and Evan mull over their daughter’s wish to elope with her fiancé. They remember their own relationship—how they did the very thing their daughter now wants to do.
Despite the exceptionally short length, “If We Listened” is a sweet, short romantic story of a couple wondering what could have been had they ignored their hearts. The situation they finds themselves in is amusing but real. The characters (Rachel and Evan), even in a work this short (about 4 pages), come alive. Ms. Bayley-Burke did a nice job of working believable characters into a realistic situation and still pull off a mini-story in such short a length.

Rating: 3 cats
