"To write what is worth publishing,
to find honest people to publish it,
and get sensible people to read it,
are the three greatest difficulties of an author"

Shelli Stevens certainly grabbed my undivided attention immediately with this entertaining jaunt through an interesting, often dangerous evening. The beautiful witch, Arianna, is initially unimpressed with the flirtatious comments of the sexy man behind the bar. After a thorough critique of his gorgeous bottom, she slyly delivers some surprises with her spells and quirky sense of humor.

Jake, the handsome vampire bartender is not dissuaded and soon overwhelms the sorceress with his intoxicating charms. Shelli brought this fast paced tale to life, sprinkling strong elements of danger in, then smoothly weaving it together with enjoyable, steamy romantic encounters. She expertly builds the tension orchestrated by a rival vampire gang, out to destroy the lovely witch. Shelli highlights Arianna's brash sense of humor at appropriate times, bringing the entire story to life in a vivid manner.

When Jake first saves Arianna from the evil vampires' clutches, a fiery romance is ignited that swiftly rises to a feverish pitch. As Jake fuels their growing passions, he is shocked to discover Arianna is his mate. When she realizes they are life mates, it does not initially bring her comfort, or ease her fiery temper. Our witch is still consumed with the whereabouts of her friends that disappeared earlier in the evening.

In my opinion, Arianna's friends could have played a larger role in the story, perhaps by watching or interacting with the evil vampires, but that's only a suggestion. This was a wonderful story and enjoyable read, so I'm giving it 5 cats.
