Well, I have to say this is one amazing collection of horror stories. Since I'm a horror fan, I fell in love with this e-book. Eventually, should Decimate go to print with Wild Child Publishing, it will make a fine copy to grace anyone's bookshelves.
There is a wide range of horror material in this collection. Readers will find everything from murderers (some with paranormal aspects) to creatures from sci-fi worlds of terrifying proportions to a man-eating plant. There's even a spoof on Frankenstein that gave me a good chuckle, a gasp, and had me admiring the author's imagination.
Although I enjoyed each and every story, I want to mention a few that really stuck with me.
Lourella's Kin by Ian Rochford is so original. Combine backwoods aliens and environmental transformation and you have a riveting story. The Walk of Freedom by M.E. Ellis is about an abused woman who exercises just desserts to her piece of crap husband. (May you rock on, hon!) The man-eating plant story is cool and unique; Roots by Daniel I. Russell combines horror, love, and regret in such a way that I truly felt sorry for the giant foliage monster. Oh, and Black Out by Phaedre Torres will make your jaw to drop when you read the twist.
This isn't to say that the remaining stories aren't great. They're absolutely fabulous and each one struck a chord within me; however, I don't want to give all the plots away. Besides, a review can only be so long, lol.
Inside Decimate, you will find writers who are well on their way to making a mark on the publishing world. I commend each and every writer for the work and dedication that obviously went into this collection. I recommend Decimate to anyone who loves dark material and a good case of the chills.
