"To write what is worth publishing,
to find honest people to publish it,
and get sensible people to read it,
are the three greatest difficulties of an author"

P.I. Karyn Harris is on a mission. Killed in the line of duty, her sister Jessica has since had her name smeared, tainted by someone who thought she knew too much. Karyn is determined to clear Jessica's name, even if it kills her.

Zechariah is Karyn's friend—with benefits. Having known each other for several years, the two friends harbor desires for more, though Zechariah is the first to acknowledge them. But just as he spills out his heart, a mysterious phone call sets in motion a wild ride of twisted officials, lurid activities, and danger around every corner.

Can Karyn find the evidence she so desperately needs before it's too late? Or will her sister's murderers repeat history with her and Zechariah instead?

Vindication is well-written, with believable dialogue and a fast but flowing pace. Karyn and Zechariah are likeable and real, with all the drive and emotions one would expect in their circumstances.

Karyn's determination to find her sister's killer (and clear her sister's name) is commendable. She isn't a shrinking violet; far from it, actually. She's a headstrong woman who knows what she's doing, what she wants, and how to get it.

Zechariah is cautious but helpful, and his protectiveness over Karyn is endearing. Like any man wanting to protect the woman he loves, he puts himself in harm's way for her.

The sex scenes, one of which starts the story, are hot. They weren't overly explicit, but very erotic. And the scene in the kitchen? Very nice, Ms. James. I was rather impressed with that one in particular.

While I personally don't really enjoy het (m/f) stories, I would recommend Vindication to anyone who enjoys a well-done, fast-paced read with steamy love scenes.
