"To write what is worth publishing,
to find honest people to publish it,
and get sensible people to read it,
are the three greatest difficulties of an author"

On firefighter Aaron Montana's last response, he never expected to run into country music singer Bailey Carson. As a patron of the club where she regularly sang, he would sit in the back and listen to her voice, imagining various scenarios involving them together. But having been burned in past relationships, he just wasn't ready to approach her yet. Will this chance encounter change that?

Bailey Carson has had to struggle and work hard for everything she has. So when she sees Aaron and recognizes him as the handsome, yet quiet man at the club, she decides to approach him. Little does she realize that their attraction would become a three-alarm fire. Can they handle the heat?

This short, quick read is surprisingly detailed. A lot of information about the characters is weaved into this story about two people who are struggling to find the courage to reach for what they want. I particularly liked Bailey's strength and determination in facing the people from her past and hometown who had no belief in her ability to make something of herself. As for Aaron, his painful past has colored how he handles his relationships. Ironically, once he finally has his chance with Bailey, circumstances beyond his control separate them, and he comes to realize just what he needs. The surprising twist at the end is just what romances are all about.
