Guardian Seductress is set on earth, but concerns beings of another race, the Inanna, that exist in a dimension just above the earth and below Heaven. Feeding on humans, both sexually and by the draining of human energy during sex, we would call them vampires, although their race has long given up the need to use their fangs to drink blood.
Genesis, the main character, has been guarding a special child, half human and half Inanna, for 28 years. The hybrid, Alex, has no idea another world exists but has always felt different and alone. Today, Alex's life changes forever, as those sworn to kill him have made their first attempt on his life, only succeeding in killing his adoptive earth father.
In order to protect him now from their mutual enemies, she has no choice but to reveal herself to Alex and explain his past. What Genesis isn't prepared to do, is to fight the strong sexual attraction she feels for her friend's son.
The book is a fast read, and quickly pulls you into the story in the first couple of pages. The author has handled dialogue and inner thoughts with ease, and the frequent sexual encounters, are not offensive or shocking. What minimal rough language there is, would have stood out to me as uncomfortable in most writing, but was offset by the proper style of speech the characters used. In other words, they work.
I found this book satisfying and seductive. I didn't want to put it down until I finished all 83 pages. The pdf version lists 96 pages but some of them are taken up with a glossary and website information.
It is definitely an adult book, but is one of the more comfortable erotic reads I've seen, and this is obviously owing to the skill of the author in making the scenes and feelings as real as possible. The characters are believable for the most part, or at least fit the genre.
In one or two places the story drags a bit with more mental action and dialogue than action to resolve the plot, as the main characters struggle with their convictions. Also, the characters may state one intention or feeling, and then waver back and forth. This is not too noticeable and doesn't spoil the read; it feels more like "formula" in the plot or soap opera thinking than contradiction.
Regardless of these few faults and a few typos, the ebook is worth reading and I would enjoy checking out the author's other works. Ms. McKeever writes with such an acceptance of her own sexuality, that this feeling is conveyed to the reader's own self image. I would recommend Guardian Seductress as a light read and as a natural sexual stimulant for women.
I give this ebook 4 cats
