Just an old fashioned love story; no, not exactly. Bargain By Starlight is an unusual tale of lust and love between a heroin whore and a Russian pimp who just happens to be a high powered demon.
Alli, a beautiful American girl finds herself on the streets of Russia turning tricks for money to fuel her strong drug addiction. One night, wealthy and handsome Dimitri, the above-mentioned premiere pimp, notices her. He begins watching her and he sees great potential. Dimitri has Alli cleaned up and sobered up and brought to him.
The couple quickly gets down to gritty, intense sex. She has an orgasm like none other. You'd have to be an ice statue to not get turned on by their first sexual encounter.
Dimitri offers Alli eternal life, but there is a tremendous trade off. Does she take him up on his offer or does she go back to her old life on the streets and her love for drugs?
They begin to fall in love, but all is not well. Drake, Dimitri's second in charge, intensely dislikes Alli and does everything in his power to break up the couple.
This book, brought to us by the Price sisters, is well-written, grabs the reader from the first sentence and doesn't let you go until the end. Early on, I did not particularly like our protagonist, but as I read on, I began to realize why she ended up where she did. I was rooting for her to find happiness.
Demons, deceptions, drugs and whores! What more could you ask for?
I'm giving Bargain By Starlight by Stella and Audra Price four Freya's Bower cats. It's good, worth buying and an enjoyable read.

Rating: 4 Cats
