"To write what is worth publishing,
to find honest people to publish it,
and get sensible people to read it,
are the three greatest difficulties of an author"

Title: Binding the Wolf
Author: Kay Derwydd
Publisher: Freya's Bower
Genre: Werewolf/M/M
ISBN: 1-934069-00-0
Release Date: June 2006

Zach and Nate have had six years of a loving, hot relationship. So when Zach comes home one day to an empty house, and a letter from Nate explaining his secret, Zach is not sure what to think. Nate is a werewolf ? Afraid of Zach's reaction, Nate has left the choice to Zach — wear a mysterious collar and join Nate, or walk away free and clear without interference.

Zach is torn for the briefest of moments, but his love for Nate cannot let him walk away. He's willing to go through whatever it takes to keep the love between them. When Zach dons the collar left for him, he begins his own evolution into a creature not quite human. As it turns out, more is changing than Zach's physiology. Nate has his own deeply rooted feelings about wearing the collar, and who should be the Alpha in their pack.

In my opinion, Binding the Wolf was hot! Typically, I'm indifferent to gay male erotica, but even I can say the eroticism in this story is sizzling. Kay Derwydd has a good grasp of pace when it comes to love scenes and depicts the arousal and excitement of the characters quite effectively. What's more, rather than feeling gratuitously excessive, the reader is led to understand the importance of the passion between these two men, and its place in their relationship.

The premise of the werewolf story line isn't fully fleshed out from a technical sense, but instead serves as a potential point of conflict and catalyst for the relationship. Rather than being two separate stories interconnected in some manner, the two vignettes in Binding the Wolf represent point of view of first Zach, and then Nate, as they experience the developments between them.

Binding the Wolf is well worth the read, flowing with a natural pace that is sure to excite.
