"To write what is worth publishing,
to find honest people to publish it,
and get sensible people to read it,
are the three greatest difficulties of an author"

Retired rodeo clown Trudy Moncha couldn't be more ecstatic to have her first houseful of guests since she remodeled The Pink Lady Slipper Bed & Breakfast. The group seems strange to be traveling together: a woman with no name, a debonair playboy, and four men with no tongues, but Trudy doesn't have time to be curious about them until a blizzard cuts off contact with the outside world and her guests start dying one by one. Now everyone's a suspect as they find themselves trapped with a murderer.

The blizzard ends, but the danger does not, and even Trudy's closest friends come under the knife of suspicion. Strangely, the one person she doesn't suspect is the mysterious guest called only the Marquis, even though she knows he lied about who he is and why he came to The Pink Lady Slipper almost from the beginning.

When Trudy is almost killed, kidnapped from her hospital bed, and held for ransom, she finds herself in a desperate race against the clock to discover who's behind all the killing before she ends up the next victim.

With all the twists and turns in this convoluted plot, you'll definitely never guess who the real villain is, which is frankly the strongest selling point of The Bed and Breakfast Murders. Unfortunately, this stand alone sequel to The Pink Lady Slipper is weighed down by grammar errors, unrealistic dialogue where average small-town Americans speak with no contractions, and so much redundant wording that I found it difficult to really lose myself in the story. For example, the prologue is not only confusing and unnecessary, but most of the relevant information is repeated in the first chapter.

An intriguing read, despite some bumpy parts. Not bad, but not great either.
